EARTH TREASURES MINERAL GALLERY
The Science Museum now has on permanent display a stunning collection of minerals and crystals from around the world. These treasures, forged by the earth and cooled to breathtaking perfection, are now dramatically presented in this exquisite exhibit. Including some specimens of national renown, Earth Treasures is a feast for the eyes that shows the potential for beautiful interplay between science and art. Earth Treasures was developed in cooperation with the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and was made possible through the generous support of a local benefactor.
A new feature display of the Earth Treasures gallery is an exceptionally rare lunar specimen now on special loan from NASA. Collected by Edgar Mitchell during the Apollo 14 mission, this genuine moon rock (a breccia sample) is estimated to be over Three Billion Years in age! Come visit us to see a real wonder of the world and contemplate the immensity of time and distance!
