How It Works: Understanding Our World (2010)
The third new gallery is How It Works, our opportunity to encourage curiosity about how our world works. We plan to explore topics in physics, chemistry, and technology, with an emphasis on practical applications and knowledge that can lead to the job skills needed for cutting-edge careers.
Our first exhibits for this gallery explain how neon works, an appealing question in the Star City. This fall, the Museum produced its first ever traveling exhibit: In the Glow: The Science Behind the Art of Neon. The exhibit underscores our goal to become a national leader among small and medium-sized museums, develop and test our ideas about exhibitory, and provide a new source of income for the Museum. After its showing here, the exhibit will travel the country for three years. When the tour concludes, the principal interactive components will be installed in our How it Works gallery.
