Space and Room Rentals

Regardless of visitors' ages, this interactive museum encourages smiles and conversation.

Deposit: required.
Restrictions: Most events are scheduled after the Museum's normal business hours.
Kitchen: Near the Planetarium, and equipped with a standard range and refrigerator. No dishwasher.

Museum accommodates up to 700 people.
Fourth Floor: 500 people.
Fifth Floor Galleries: 250 people.
Planetarium: 120 people.
Lecture Hall: 50 people.
Classroom: 30 people.

Hopkins Planetarium offers an outstanding presentation space.

The planetarium is a unique meeting venue seating 120, and is often used by businesses and civic groups – such as the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Roanoke, Inc. – for presentations and meetings.

Your meeting can include a presentation of the large format film currently showing at the Science Museum, or a seasonal star show, one of our other seven specialty star shows.

Equipment includes:

• Area media can broadcast live from the Science Museum for press conferences.

Payment is required in full 30 days prior to the event. No smoking is allowed on the premises. Facility reservations do not include parking. The adjacent parking garage is owned by the City of Roanoke. Parking information is available at (540)343-0585. Event sponsors are required to clean up after all events. Failure to do so will forfeit security deposit. If alcoholic beverages are to be served, admission is by written invitation only and not open to the public. It is the responsibility of the event sponsor to obtain any required licenses. Event sponsor provides all servers, bartenders, and table linens. At least one Science Museum staff member must be in attendance at all times. An additional staff member is required for Planetarium/MegaDome. The Science Museum is unable to remove or relocate exhibits to accommodate service tables, etc.
